I'm a reporter at The Roanoke Times in Virginia, where I balance crime reporting and breaking news with longer enterprise stories.
I'm a reporter driven by untold stories found in the nooks and crannies of communities. That's led me to bodegas and putting my broken Spanish to a test, to a stoop that once hosted a former prostitute and heroin addict and to a ballet stage graced by a man dancing in honor of his slain girlfriend.
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, where I spent much of my time working for The Pitt News, the student-run, daily newspaper for which I was the editor of. I worked as a business reporter at The Reading Eagle in Pennsylvania, covering one of the country's largest casino operators and the natural gas industry. That followed internships and freelancing stints with The Columbus Dispatch, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Altoona Mirror.
